Drywall dust, tile dust, and sawdust are much finer than ordinary household dust. They hang in the air for hours, settle on every horizontal surface, and get pulled back into circulation every time the HVAC runs or someone walks through. Wiping the counters once does almost nothing.
A real post-construction clean works from the top down and in stages. The first pass removes debris, vacuums heavy dust from ledges, vents, window sills, and floors with a HEPA vacuum, and wipes the obvious surfaces. That pass mostly exists so the detailed pass is not undone by dust falling from above.
The detailed pass is where the house becomes livable: walls and ceilings dusted, inside every new cabinet and drawer, paint specks and adhesive removed from glass and fixtures, grout haze cleared from new tile, windows and tracks cleaned, and new floors vacuumed, mopped, and detailed at the edges where dust collects.
Two practical tips for homeowners: change your HVAC filter the day construction ends and again a week later, and do not schedule the final clean until the last trade has actually left. We handle post-construction cleaning for homeowners, contractors, and landlords across Fullerton and Orange County, and we are happy to look at the space and tell you what it will take.
